Three interesting things to do in Bengaluru this weekend

Interested in scotch whisky? Especially, single malts? Good, now you can get to know more about the whiskies of Scotland at the Bricklane Grill, in Indiranagar. The folks at BG will host Jamie Walker (no relation to Johnnie, we suppose), a brand ambassador for Diageo, who will hold forth on the different drams of Scotland and the regions that produce them. Walker’s masterclass will include a tasting and appreciation of single malts such as Cardhu (12YO, from Speyside, in Scotland); Singleton (12YO, Speyside); Talisker (10 YO, Isle of Skye) and Oban (14 YO, West Highland). Naturally, all of the whiskies featured in the talk are from distilleries owned by Diageo, but there’s enough and more in there to make for an engaging evening. 6pm to 8pm, July 23, Rs 1500

Take your taste buds on a sensory flight at Open Box with Caribbean Wings (Chicken Wings marinated overnight with jerk spice and grilled), Sriracha Wings (Wings tossed with sweet and spicy Sriracha chilli sauce), Lemon Wings (Wings marinated with Cajun sauce and tossed in lemon chilli sauce), Teriyaki wings (crispy chicken wings finished with teriyaki sauce and sprinkled with schimi powder), Jack Coke wings (an all-time favourite sweet and smoke combination) and Guntur Chicken wings (wings tossed in Andhra Chilli and spices) and much more.  Open Box is also celebrating the monsoons, and their special menu features, among others, Corn and Batata Tikki,  Parsi Baba Special (Masala aloo and Methi Puffs with grilled red chilli, Roasted Tamatar chutney), Puneri Misal Pav and Videshi Maggi (available in Veg/Egg/Chicken options). And yes, all these items will be served with the restaurant’s special Masala Chai and Khari.  Contact: 080 4129 0055 / 080 4128 0055 for reservations
