Now, order food and reserve tables straight from Google

When it comes to taking control over our lives, Google is doing all the right things. Yesterday it took another step in that direction by allowing users to order food from their favourite restaurants right from Google Search. On its blog, the search giant said, “From today, when people search for a nearby restaurant on their phone, they’ll see an option to ‘Place an order’ in the search results.” The search giant currently has tie-ups with food delivery companies such as Swiggy and with Zomato, but it has said that it will be tying up with more partners soon.

Google has also tied up with restaurant reservation companies such as DineOut and BytPlus, so “you can book ahead of time with Google Search by clicking on a partner’s link and you’ll be taken to their site to make your reservation.” Apart from Google Search, the services will also be available via the Google app on Android and iOS phone or tablets.

The partnership with Google should help companies such as Swiggy and Zomato, both of which are among the companies batting for supremacy in the food delivery space. Swiggy’s services are currently operational in eight cities across India, and it claims to the largest food delivery service when it comes to number of orders.
